Robert G. Lawther
Robert G. Lawther, age 99, of Texas, formerly of Carrollton, peacefully passed away Monday, April 22, 2013.
Born Feb. 8, 1914, in Carroll County, he was a son of Lina (Gross) Lawther and Robert R. Lawther.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in North Africa and Italy, and was the recipient of several medals, including the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Judy) Lawther of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, Deborah (Leonard) Cross of Westerville, Marcia (Thomas) Handwork of North Lawrence, Roberta (Ronald) Meleg of North Canton, and Sandra Lloyd of El Paso, TX; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Opal Lawther and Twila (Lloyd) Lawther; and a son, Richard Lawther.
The family wishes to thank the staff of E.G. Adult Foster Home and Hospice of El Paso for the compassionate care of their father. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to Hospice of El Paso, 1440 Miracle Way, El Paso, TX 79925.
A graveside service with military honors will be held June 8 at Westview Cemetery in Carrollton where Robert will be buried alongside Opal and Rick.
