Ralph E. (Pete) Hull
Ralph E. (Pete) Hull, 83, passed away Tuesday morning, April 19, 2011, in his home after an extended illness.
Born June 27, 1927, in Mechanicstown, he was a son of Lloyd and Ruby Ray Hull.
He married Donna Mae Lowther on July 19, 1947. He was a farmer all his life. Ralph drove bus for the Carrollton School system for eight years in the 1950s and was a driver/equipment operator for local coal companies for several years. He was best known for his knowledge and extreme skill with heavy equipment. He owned and operated Ralph Hull Excavating for 40 plus years with the help of his family. He was a former member of Carrollton Eagles and Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department and was a member and elder of Corinth Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Donna, he is survived by a brother, Ray; two sisters, Wilma (Lewis) Grigsby and Etta Mae (Ronald) Peterson all of Carrollton; daughter, Gilda Long of Minerva and Jack Long of Canton; two sons, Homer (Vicki) of Carrollton and Robert (Debra) of Mechanicstown; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three infant children.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mechanicstown Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or Carroll County Hospice in lieu of flowers.
