Norma Lee (Scott) Grunder

Norma Lee (Scott) Grunder, 77, of Carrollton passed away March 10, 2012, after an extended illness.

Born Nov. 18, 1934, in Canton, she was a daughter of the late Dwight and Golda (Donaldson) Scott of New Harrisburg.

A lifelong resident of Carroll County, Norma attended school in New Harrisburg and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1952.  She worked as a waitress at the Hilltop Restaurant before becoming a switchboard operator for General Telephone in Carrollton, a job she left after marrying Charles Grunder in 1954.  In 1961, Norma and Charles moved to the family farm north of Carrollton and managed their dairy farm through the 1990s.  In the 1980s, Norma began working as a babysitter and continued caring for children of friends and family for much of the remainder of her life.

She attended the Presbyterian Church of New Harrisburg as a child and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Carrollton.

She is survived by her siblings, twin sister, Nancy Buckridge of New Harrisburg, Kenneth Scott of Carrollton and Ralph Scott of Myrtle Beach, SC; children, Jeff Grunder and Jim Grunder, both of Carrollton, Scott Grunder of Cincinnati, Dan (Amber) Grunder of Harlem Springs, and Kathy (Patrick) Brown of Minerva; grandchildren, Ashleigh Johnson, Rebecca Grunder and Amanda Mae, Derek, and Travis Brown; extended family, Bridgette and Allison Campbell, Sarah, Shelly and Sally Schmactenberger, Curtis Moyer and Maci and Harli Ulman; three cousins and many well loved nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Grunder.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 16 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton.  Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carroll County District Library Wish List or the First Presbyterian Church in Carrollton.
