Harold A. "Woody" Wood

Harold A. "Woody" Wood, 72, slipped away peacefully the morning of Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, in Sebring, FL., in the company of family and friends there both in person and in spirit.

Born April 27, 1937, in Kilgore, Woody worked at Republic Steel in Canton until an injury forced him to retire.  Despite an ongoing series of health problems, Woody never lost his natural sense of humor or endless generosity.

He loved to tell jokes, swap tall tales, teach his grandchildren to fish, build crafts in his workshop and help out anyone in any way he could.

He is sorely missed by his beloved wife of nearly 38 years, Nancy Wood; children, Rhonda Taylor and Larry Wood; step-children, Cynthia Cook and Lynn Wiandt; grandchildren; great grandchildren and friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers and sisters; his stepson, grandson and great grandson.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations in Woody's name be made to the American Heart Association.

Funeral services were held Feb. 13 in Koch Funeral Home in Scio with Pastor Robert Wood officiating.  Burial was in Fairview Gardens in Jewett.
