Edwin "Digger" Odell Rector
Edwin "Digger" Odell Rector, 81, of Harlem Springs passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Carroll Healthcare Center in Carrollton following an extended illness.
Born Oct. 10, 1929, in Ravenswood, WV, he was the son of the late Thomas and Estella Howell Rector.
Odell worked for Weirton Steel for 38 years before retiring to spend his time as a square dance caller in the tri-state area.
He is survived by his wife, the former Marla Stockdale; a son, Bruce Rector of Carrollton; a daughter, Odette (Garth) Stanford of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren; three brothers, Darrell Rector of Malvern, Delbert Rector and Richard Rector, both of Carrollton; and three sisters, Pauline Postlewaite and Edith Brown, both of Weirton, WV, and Irene Johnson of Carrollton.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 15 in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Dan Loomis officiating. Burial followed in Harlem Springs Cemetery.
