Daniel F. "Dan" Imes

Daniel F. "Dan" ImesDaniel F. "Dan" Imes, age 58, of 1227 Avalon Rd., N.W., Carrollton, died early Friday morning, Jan. 21, 2011, in his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born March 26, 1952, in Canton, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Bertha F. "Bird" King Imes.

Dan worked as an excavator for most of his life, but was most recently employed as a truck driver for Twin City Concrete.

He was a member of Sandy Valley Eagles Club #3228 and Carrollton V.F.W. Post #2291. Dan took delight in spending time tinkering in his garage. He enjoyed boating and fishing, and was a fan of NASCAR, but he particularly delighted in spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kaye Robinson Imes, whom he married Sept. 23, 1973; his two sons, Todd (Brandy) Imes and John (Charity) Imes, both of Dellroy; six grandchildren, Darren Hamilton of Courtland, Codie Imes and Tyler Imes both of Dellroy, and Kaylee, Kinzey, and Natalie Imes, all of Dellroy; a special great-nephew, Aiden Michael Vint of Carrollton; two sisters, Mrs. Tim (Diane F.) Byrd of Bowerston, and Janice F. Nape of Dellroy; two brothers, Randall F. (Karen) Imes of Dellroy, and Stephen E. (Lynne) Imes of Evansville, IN; his mother-in-law, Maxine Robinson of New Philadelphia; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny F. Imes and his father-in-law, Charles E. Robinson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25 in Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Robert King officiating. A reception will be held in Dellroy United Methodist Church following services. Calling hours will be held Monday from 6 - 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
