John William Hampton
John William Hampton, 84, of Kensington Rd., Carrollton, died Monday Nov. 8, 2010, in the Golden Age Retreat at Carrollton following an extended illness.
Born Dec. 30, 1925, in Jeremiah, KY, he was a son of the late David and Elsie Whittaker Hampton.
He was a retired accountant for Tennessee Gas Company and was a WWII Navy veteran.
He was a member of New Harrisburg Presbyterian Church, Carroll County Historical Society, Past Master of Carroll Masonic Lodge #124, Scottish Rite of Steubenville, Massillon Community Commandry.
He is survived by two sons, Johnny Ray Hampton of Carrollton and James Lee Hampton of Hamburg, NY; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Kermitt Hampton of Florida and Shelby Hampton of Hamilton; and a sister, Dorothy Bryant of Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian in 2009, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be Friday Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Mario DeCarlo officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in New Harrisburg Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home where Masonic services will be held at 8:45 p.m.
