Laura E. "Betty" Eden

Laura E. "Betty" Eden, 87, formerly of Carrollton, passed away Sept. 24, 2009, in Eugene, OR.

Born Jan. 20, 1922, in Holton, KS, she was a daughter to Jesse (Lunsford) Johnson and Mary Inez (Hill) Johnson.

Betty was a 1939 graduate of Carrollton High School. She was a U.S. Army nurse during World War II, and worked as a nurse anesthetist at Sacred Heart General Hospital in Eugene for nearly 20 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Souder of Roseburg, OR; a brother, J. Ross Johnson of Mechanicstown and a granddaughter, Elaine.

A memorial service was held Oct. 4, at Campbell Senior Center in Eugene. Her ashes will be scattered on the Grand Teton Mountains near Jackson, WY.   Memorials can be made to the Society of Rug Hooking Scholarship Fund.
