Michael J. Schande

Michael J. Schandel, age 66, of Minerva passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, after fighting an extended illness.

He was born May 31, 1943 in Canton. He was in direct sales for 25 years and was vice-president of Adtec Detention Systems in San Antonio, TX for 10 years. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1961 and was a US Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother, Alwilda (Hemming) Schandel of Minerva; two sons, Troy Hughes of Kansas City, MS, and Christian Schandel of Minerva; daughter, Marisa (Ron) Schandel-Robinson of Pittsburgh, PA; former wife, Dana Schandel of Alliance; a sister, Sharon (Larry) Englehart of Minerva; four grandchildren, Shelby Lynne Schandel, Leah Myers, Dillon Wilson, Cash Staley Robinson and longtime friend Linda Bates.  He will be sadly missed by many family and friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Pastor Lee Grosh officiating. Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be Wednesday 6-8 pm in the funeral home.
