Elizabeth "Betty" Herrington-Matchner

Elizabeth "Betty" Herrington-MatchnerElizabeth "Betty" Herrington-Matchner, age 88, died Monday, July 23, 2012, in Fort Myers, FL, where she had lived for the past 25 years.

Born Sept. 17, 1923, in Oakdale, PA, she was a daughter to Perry and Agnes (Campbell) Tarr. She graduated from West Minster College and received her masters from Kent State University. Betty taught at Hoover High School for more than 30 years. She was a charter member of Faith United Methodist Church of North Canton, and an associate member of Grace Church Olga- Fort Myers Shores Campus.  Betty was a past matron of the Augusta Chapter and member of Legacy Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her second husband, Frank Matchner, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Michael Poole of Sinking Spring, PA; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Lynette Herrington of Canton; three grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Poole and Crissy Herrington; three great grandchildren; and a brother, Scotty Tarr of Atlanta, GA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Orin Herrington; and a sister, Amy.

Funeral Service and Eastern Star tributes were held July 28 in Faith United Methodist Church with interment in Herrington Cemetery, Mechanicstown, OH.
