Much to her own great relief, Isabell Garner, 98, of Third St., S.E., Carrollton left her worldly woes behind early Sunday morning, June 20, 2010 in her home following a four-and-a-half year illness.
Born Nov. 9, 1911, in BrandysBend, PA, she was a daughter of the late Christopher and Mazina Lash Barger.
She and her husband, Lawrence, were married in 1930 and he died in March 1981, shortly after they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They resided in Pennsylvania, Harlem Springs, OH, California and Nevada before returning to Carrollton in 1980. They were former members of Church of God. Prior to her illness, Isabell enjoyed going to the Algonquin Mill and the Friendship Center for weekly quilting days.
She is survived by four daughters, Winona B. DeLair of Streetsboro, P. Ruth (Carl) Noble of Harlem Springs, Mary E. (Raymon) Dunlap of Carrollton and Vaunda L. Eidem Spaulding of Ogden, UT; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Icle Scott of Winterhaven, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters; three brothers and three very dear sons-in-law, Dean DeLair, Gene Spaulding and Rudy Eidem.
Funeral services were held June 22 in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Doug Snode officiating. Burial followed in Harlem Springs Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Isabell’s name to Hospice of Carroll County, 1040 Trump Rd., Carrollton, 44615.
