Darrell E. "Sam" Henderson

Darrell E. "Sam" Henderson, age 82, of Scio, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012, in Aultman Hospital.

Born March 30, 1930, in East Canton, he was a son to the late Samuel A. and Florence (Miller) Henderson.

Sam was an East Canton resident most of his life and was a Korean War Army veteran discharged with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He retired from the Ohio Power Company in 1991 after 43 years of service. He was a member of Kilgore Evangelical Church where he had served as a trustee, member of Ohio Professional Surveyors, Ohio Power Retirees, Carroll County Arts Commission, a Rotarian for 14 years, life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and former director for Bank One in the Steubenville and Wheeling area.

He is survived by his wife, Terry S. (Herwick) Henderson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley and Susan Henderson of Canfield, and Brian and Pamela Henderson of Gahanna, OH; four grandchildren, Samuel (Jill) Henderson, Luke Henderson, Sarah (Joseph III) Pershing, and Rachel (Mitchell) Klein; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Candice Silecchia and Joseph and Kristin Silecchia; one stepdaughter, Tara Silecchia; one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and William Kimball of East Canton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Janet Henderson of Louisville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Henderson in 2004; and an infant sister, Carol Henderson.

Funeral services were held June 2 in Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Pastor Terry Will officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery, East Canton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kilgore Evangelical Church, 8114 Germano Rd SE, Amsterdam, OH 43903.
