Betty Jean Hepner

Betty Jean Hepner, 87, of Carrollton passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009, in Columbus.

Born May 30, 1922, in Harlem Springs, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Golda (Carson) Lucas.

She attended The Carrollton Bible Chapel.  She worked at Surety Rubber for 25 years and the Carroll County Home for 14 years.

She is survived by four sons, William O. (Dorothy) Hepner of Newark, Larry F. (Helen) Hepner, Carl E. (Lou) Hepner and John R. (Linda) Hepner, all of Carrollton; a daughter, Connie I. (Robert) Birchfield of Port Charlotte, FL; five brothers, Oscar Lucas Jr., Carl Lucas, Robert Lucas and Ralph Lucas, all of Carrollton and Kenny Lucas of Augusta; four sisters, Marie Hepner of Carrollton, Corma Haas of Warner-Robbins, GA, Rachel Ludwig and Janice Place, both of Minerva; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren and close special friend, Lois Kovach.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Austin Hepner, whom she married March 18, 1939, and who passed away Jan. 20, 1996; three brothers, Homer, Andrew and Robert Glenn Lucas and a sister, Donna Faye Lucas.

Funeral services will be held June 4 at 11 a.m. in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home in Carrollton.  Burial will be in Westview Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 3 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Canton Area Chapter, 4815 Munson St., NW, Canton, 44718.
