Margaret Patterson

Margaret Patterson of Scio celebrated her 95th birthday Tuesday, May 17, 2011, then went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 19, 2011, in Sunnyslope Nursing Home, Bowerston.

Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, she was the last surviving child of 13 to the late Albert and Helen Molnar Chereek.

She worked for the Bettes Paper Co. at the Scio Pottery for 10 years and was a homemaker.  Margaret was a very devoted member of Scio Presbyterian Church where she served as a Clerk of Sessions and Deaconess. She was a tireless worker at the Algonquin Mill Festival for over 30 years where she made handcrafts, striped fabric for rugs and demonstrated homemade noodle making. She was an avid supporter of the Scio VFD.

She is survived by her children, Julia (Karl) Reimold of Sagamore Hills, Janet Wiggins of Worthington and Paul (Linda) Patterson of Peoria, IL; son-in-law, Don Smith of Leander, TX; grandchildren, Tracy Reimold Latimer, Martin Reimold Busch, Brandon Jackson, David Wiggins, Summer Patterson Peil, Lindsay Patterson Walls and Rachel Patterson Swonger; two great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elva L. Patterson; a son, Mark Patterson; and daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Jackson Smith.

Services will be held Tuesday May 24 at 11 a.m. in Koch Funeral Home, Scio with Rev. Jack Visser officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain. Friends may call Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
