Lucille Martha (Eick) Bresnan
Lucille Martha (Eick) Bresnan, 98, was called to rest Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, in California.
She was born Oct. 30, 1910, in Harrison Township to James and Ophilia (White) Eick. She graduated in 1932 from Aultman School of Nursing in Canton and worked as a nurse in the Canton and Cleveland areas.
In 1936, Lucille answered an ad for nurses and traveled by train away from the snow in Carrollton to Monterey, CA. where the sweet peas were in bloom. Lucille continued her nursing career in Monterey, San Francisco, and at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento, CA.
In 1941, Lucille married Clyde Bresnan and they worked for 26 years at their practice, Bresnan Dental, in the Forum Building in downtown Sacramento. She was Catholic by faith and a member of the Young Ladies Institute (YLI). She also shared fellowship at the Friends Church in East Sacramento where she resided for over 50 years.
Lucille is survived by niece Carol (Rowley) Barnard of Massillon; nephew Roger Rowley of Minerva; great nephews, Eric Barnard and Daron Rowley of Massillon and great niece Danielle (Rowley) Obodovski of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her loving cousins who were her caregivers in her later years, Jackie (Carter) Wilson and her daughter, Erin Brooks of Sacramento, CA.
For her lifetime of nursing and caring for others, Lucille was blessed with many friends and family dear to her heart. A special thanks to her loyal friend Moises Santana and Staff of Asbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Bresnan; sisters; Valetta Gotschall and Winnie Rowley.
A graveside service was held Friday March 6 in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home.
