John L. Cowling

John L. Cowling, 67, of Scio passed away in his home Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 9, 2011, after a long illness.

He was born in Canton, a son of Catherine Genet Cowling of Waco, OH, and the late Louis C. Cowling.

He worked as a printer-slotter operator for Georgia Pacific for 27 years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, the former Alice Harper; two sons, Kenny (Ruth) Bowser of South Carolina, and Richard (Jeanette) Bowser of Minerva; three daughters, JoAnna (Rodney) Orr of Kansas, Cheryl Lynn Herndon and Cherie (Wade) Griffith, both of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four brothers and one sister.

He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Cowling.

According to John's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. Arrangements were handled by Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton.
