Ted R. Ralston
Ted R. Ralston, 89, of Carrollton passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 13, 2012, in Carroll Golden Age Retreat.
Born May 24, 1922, in Mechanicstown, he was a son of the late Fred Raymond and Lola Lee Coleman Ralston.
He was a WWII veteran having served under General Patton in the European Theater. A standout pitcher in his youth, Ted earned a tryout with the Pittsburgh Pirates professional baseball club. During his career he worked for Carrollton Manufacturing and United Dye Manufacturing in Sebring.
His memberships included life memberships in Odd Fellows of Dellroy, Carrollton VFW, Carroll County Vet's Club, and a member of the Carrollton Church of Christ Christian Disciples.
He is survived by a daughter, Denise Ralston of Carrollton; a sister, Betty Carol Slonaker of Phoenix, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Donna Dennis, who passed away Jan. 8, 2006; five brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrolton with Rev. Mike Doak officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery of Salineville. Full military honors will be provided by VFW, American Legion and DAV. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
