Robert Lynn Johnson

Robert Lynn Johnson, age 55, of Salineville Rd., Mechanicstown died Friday morning, Dec. 21, 2012, in Mercy Medical Center at Canton.

Born Sept. 9, 1957, in Alliance, he was a son of Betty Roudebush Johnson of Mechanicstown and the late James Ross Johnson, who passed away Dec. 24, 2011.

He was a graduate of Carrollton High School where he enjoyed athletics and served as a manager for the basketball team.  He played baseball for the former Mechanicstown Kangaroo baseball team and had been employed at the former Town Pump Restaurant in Mechanicstown.

He was a member of Cornith Presbyterian Church in Mechanicstown.  He was an avid Pittsburgh fan of both the Steelers and Pirates and rooted for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Cheryl Anne Groth; honorary sister, Tammy Newbold; two nephews, John Groth and Eric Groth; a niece, Rebecca Groth; an honorary niece, Tammy White; and his beloved cat, Jill.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 28 at 12 p.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Ryan Hale officiating.  Burial will follow in Mechanicstown Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.
