Lois (Rutledge) Ahlquist
Lois (Rutledge) Ahlquist, 87, of Ferrington Ave, N.W., Canton died early Tuesday morning, Dec. 2, 2009, in Carroll Healthcare Center in Carrollton following an extended illness.
Born Oct. 16, 1922, in Lee Township, Carroll County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mearle Maple Rutledge.
She was a 1939 graduate of Carrollton High School and the Canton Actual Business College and held an associate degree from Kent State University.
She was a former employee of Dr. Paul Wasson and the Hoover Company. In 1987, she retired from the US Postal Service after 22 years having worked at both the Canton and Akron Post Offices.
She was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple, AARP and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She is survived by a son, Douglas Bliss of Shawnee, OK; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two nieces, Judy Lowdermilk and Patsy Ray, both of Carrollton, who were her caregivers.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Bake and a brother, Jay Rutledge.
Funeral services were held Dec. 7 in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home with Steve Rutledge officiating. Burial was in Harlem Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lois' name may be made to Carroll County Hospice, Trump Rd, Carrollton or the Pete Ray Scholarship Fund, c/o Atty. Jennifer Thomas, 2nd St SW, Carrollton. |
