William W. Green

William W. Green, age 89, of St. Clairsville, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.

Born Sept. 9, 1924, in Salineville, he was a son of the late Harry and Ellen Green.

William was retired from Famous Supply Company and Bill's Counter Tops. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville; Salineville Lodge # 348 F. & A.M.; Belmont Lodge # 16 F. & A.M.; Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville and American Legion Post #159 in St. Clairsville.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Green; two daughters, Janet Olexa of St. Clairsville, Susan Myers and her husband Ken of Fremont; a son, Robert Green of St. Clairsville; seven grandchildren, Kristopher and Kyle Myers, Erin and Daniel Naughton, Bethany Olexa, and Clayton and Connor Green; seven great grandchildren, Cecelia, Armand, Kate, William, Allison, Drew and Nora; two sisters, Ruth Ann Bettis of Minerva and Marlene Corbisello of Wellsville; three brothers, Roger Green of Calcutta, Tom Green of Minerva and Carl Green of Bloomingdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Roy, and Fred Green.

Funeral services were held Dec. 2 at Calvary Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville from. with Rev. Laurie Armstrong officiating. Private family burial was in Woodland Cemetery, Salineville. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church.

Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville was in charge of arrangements.
