Elizabeth “Betty” Garrett
Elizabeth “Betty” Garrett, age 65, of Minerva died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, in Aultman Hospital.
Born Aug. 27, 1945, in Minerva, she was a daughter to the late “Rudy” Rudolf and Therese (Weiss) Zwahlen.
She graduated from Augusta High School in 1963 and worked for Freshmark in Salem and Carriage Hill Meats for 18 years. She was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Homebuilders Sunday, Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband Jerry D. Garrett, whom she married July 5, 1963; three sons, Michael Garrett of East Canton, Brian (Dana) Garrett of Massillon, and Darren (Tammy) Garrett of Minerva; two sisters, Margarite “Maggie” (Robert) Carter of Carrollton and Rose (George) Myers of Eaton; two brothers, Edward “Ed” (Dixie) Zwahlen of Minerva and Alfred (Norma) Zwahlen of Minerva; 10 grandchildren; one great grandson; sister-in-law, Edith Zwahlen of Minerva and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard Zwahlen.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Mark Thomas and Rev. Dave Sperry officiating. Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Building Fund.
