Gary Ray, 60, of Carrollton died Monday afternoon, Nov. 26, 2012, in Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born April 2, 1952, in Canton, he was a son of the Dale Ray of Carrollton and the late Eloise Dusenberry Ray, who died Oct. 15, 2012.
Gary was employed at Guess Motors of Carrollton for 22 1/2 years where he was the used car manager. He was a member of Carrollton First United Methodist Church, Carroll County Vet's Club, where he had served as manager, and a former member of Carrollton Jaycees. Gary loved his family, many friends and of course, his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, the former Vicki Sheldon, whom he married Aug. 15, 1989; four daughters, Traci (BJ) Bryant of Myrtle Beach, SC, Meghan (Storm) Hill of Carrollton, and Mackenzie Ray and Mallory Ray, both of the home; a brother, Greg (Sandy) Ray of Carrollton; and a grandson, Cori Ray of Myrtle Beach, SC.
To honor Gary, it is requested all friends and family attending funeral visitation or services were Ohio State apparel or scarlet and grey for Gary and the Buckeyes.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Dan Loomis officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery in Carrollton. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gary's memory may be made to Community Hospice of Carroll County, 1040 Trump Rd., Carrollton, OH 44615.
