Herman R. Coffy

Herman R. Coffy, 89, of Raley Ave., Carrollton died Wednesday Aug. 31, 2011, in Mercy Medical Center in Canton following a brief illness.

Born Nov. 14, 1921, in Bowerston, he was a son of the late Sam and Pauline Boyd Coffy.

He was an Army veteran of WWII.  He was a retired custodian for Carrollton Exempted Village Schools and a former employee of Carrollton Manufacturing Co.  He was a life member of Carroll County Vets Club and Carrollton VFW and served for many years as a Carrollton volunteer fireman.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jennie Bowen, whom he married July 10, 1942; three sons, Richard (Sue) Coffy of Carrollton, Michael (Rebecca) Coffy of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Frank (Terry) Coffy of Boca Raton, FL; a daughter, Carol (Chuck) Lutton of Carrollton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; a brother, Ronnie Coffy of Carrollton; and a sister, Audrey Leggett of Sherrodsville.

Private funeral services were held at Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton.  Interment with military honors was in Westview Cemetery in Carrollton.  Memorial donations may be made in Herman's name to Community Hospice, 1040 Trump Rd., Carrollton, 44615. 

Services were under the care and guidance of Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton.
