Ray C. Hull
Ray C. Hull, age 88, of Mechanicstown passed away Thursday morning Aug. 23, 2012, at Carroll Golden Age Retreat in Carrollton.
Born June 14, 1924, in Mechanicstown, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Ruby Ray Hull.
He was a veteran of the Army having served during WWII and receiving two Bronze Stars for campaigns in Central Europe and Rhineland. Ray was self employed as a water well driller from 1975-1999 and was a rural mail carrier for six years. He served as a Carroll County Commissioner from 1968-1970, East Township Trustee from 1974-1986, and as a Board Member on National Rural Electric Coop Association for 12 years.
Ray's memberships included Augusta Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Worthy Patron of Augusta Eastern Star, charter member of The National WWII Museum, and Life Member of Veterans Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by two sons, Tom (Beth) Hull of Stafford, VA, and John (Pat) Hull of Enon, OH; one daughter, Barb (Artie) Labbe of Bristol, CT; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Wilma (Lewis) Grigsby and Etta Mae (Ronald) Peterson, both of Carrollton.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the former Leona Black; his daughter, Nancy Baughman; and his brother, Ralph Hull.
Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 27 at 2 p.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton. Burial will follow in Mechanicstown Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m.
