Shirley Doris Brackin
Shirley Doris Brackin, 82, of Carrollton passed away Friday evening, Aug. 9, 2013, in the Carroll Golden Age Retreat following an extended illness.
A daughter of the late Okey Hamrick and Helen Patrick Easterday, she was born June 8, 1931, in Clay, WVA.
She was member of Carrollton Church of Christ Christian Disciples and she was a charter member of the Junior Womens Club. She worked for various businesses in the Carrollton area including the A&P, IGA, Super Duper, Carrollton Greenhouse, Bud’s Florist, and Marshal’s Greenhouse.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Ralph Brackin, whom she married Oct. 30, 1949; son, Jim (Leslie) Brackin of Carrollton; three daughters, Linda (Jay) Borland of Malvern, June Shuster of Carrollton, Doris Nuske of Carrollton, sister Carol Carle of Minerva; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home with Dr. Rev. Michael Doak officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Carrollton. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
