Barbara A. Love

Barbara A. LoveBarbara A. Love, age 56, 8125 Antigua Road SW, Sherrodsville, died early Saturday morning Aug. 6, 2011, after fighting cancer for exactly 12 months to the day at Aultman Hospital, Canton.

Born Oct. 1, 1954, in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Raymond J. and Audrey Belknap Rutledge.

Barb was an active and faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where she taught the adult Seek & Serve Sunday school class, was president of United Methodist Women and served on the condolence committee. After graduating from Conotton Valley High School in 1972, she became a licensed beautician from Nationwide Beauty School in 1973.  Barb was owner and operator of Love's Country Cuts Beauty Salon in Sherrodsville for the past 25 years. As a beautician, her many patrons counted on her not only to make them look better, but also on her advice and friendship to help them feel better. She was a community-minded individual who was a strong and active supporter of many local events and organizations.

During Barb's years of dedicated service to the many athletic programs at Conotton Valley, she was instrumental in such things as organizing the first annual Booster Club Steak Fry.

Barb's tender devotion to her family was evident in her tireless encouragement and love for her sons, nieces, nephews, and granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin B. Love, with whom she recently celebrated 37 years of marriage on June 16; two sons Travis (Leslie) Love of Sherrodsville and Kyle Love and his girlfriend Tiffany L. Stocker of Delaware, OH; a brother John (Marsha) Rutledge of Sherrodsville; two sisters, Peggy Jo Rutledge of Villa Hills, KY, and Mrs. Paul (Janie) Downing of Sherrodsville; in-laws Palmer (Betty) Love of Uhrichsville; three granddaughters, Camille, Corra Rae, and Carter Love, all of Sherrodsville; nine nephews, four nie
ces, and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Aug. 10 in Calvary United Methodist Church at Sherrodsville with Rev. Clarke A. Hogue III officiating. Interment will follow in Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Aug. 9 from 4 - 8 p.m. in Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home in Sherrodsville and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

As much as Barb loved flowers, she loved her church more and in lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, P. O. Box #277, Sherrodsville, OH 44675. To leave an online condolence, visit www.baxtergardner.com.
