Richard Duane Everly
Richard Duane Everly, Sr., 77, of Amsterdam passed away early Friday morning, July 1, 2011, at the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born Dec. 3, 1933, in Holidays Cove, WV, he was a son of the late Clarence Sr. and Lois Linthicum Everly.
He was a graduate of Springfield High School and the owner of Everly Septic Tank Co. Inc. of Amsterdam. He was a chairman of Boy Scouts, a member of Amsterdam VFW, National Homebuilders, National Precast Association, Amsterdam United Methodist Church and numerous other associations.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rosemary Bendle, whom he married Oct. 9, 1954; two daughters, Robin (Ron) Boggess and Rhonda (Michael) Boone, both of Amsterdam; three sons, Richard Duane (Lisa) Everly Jr. of Amsterdam, Ronald Lee (Tammy) Everly of Fort Pierce, FL, and Randy Christopher Everly of Springfield, IL; eight grandchildren, Christopher Chamberlain, Matthew Chamberlain, Leah Boggess, Alyssa (Joseph) Kerker, Michael Boone, Tabitha Boone, Spencer Everly, and Paige Everly; two great grandchildren, Theresa and Anthony Kerker; a brother, Clarence "Bud" Everly of Amsterdam; and two sisters, Mary Katherine (Joseph) Webb and Ellen Joy (Donald) Barry, both of Amsterdam.
Funeral services were held July 3 at Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam. Burial was July 5 in Bergholz Cemetery with full military honors.
