Ralph “Jake” Martin

Ralph “Jake” Martin, age 86, of Malvern died Thursday, May 19, 2011, in Carroll Golden Age Retreat.

Born July 16, 1924, in Malvern, he was a son to William and Florence (Wyville) Martin.

He was a truck driver for Harple Oil, Campbell’s Sohio, and Magnolia Mining Co. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and member of  Malvern American Legion Post #375, 69th Infantry Division Association, and VFW Post #4120 in Minerva.

He is survived by his wife, Helen (Baughman) Martin whom he married July 8, 1947; three daughters, Florence (James) Breckinridge of Malvern, Faye (Paul) VanMeter of Minerva, and Katherine (Gary) Price of Minerva; two sons, Ralph (Debbie) Martin of Canton and William “Willis” (Carol) Martin of Minerva; sister, Lenora Gotschall of Minerva; brother, Russell (Betty) Martin of Florida,;14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kris Martin and a brother, Clarence Martin.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 25 at 11:30 a.m. in Bethlehem Cemetery in Malvern with Rev. Kerry King officiating. Burial will be with full military honors.
