Barbara A. Romano
Barbara A. Romano, age 66, of Minerva died Monday May 16, 2011, in her home.
Born June 7, 1944, in Canton, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Ostarchvic) Romano.
She graduated from Malvern High School in 1962 and received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Walsh University in 1969. She received her master's degree from University of Dayton. She taught two years at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church School in Canton and then 30 years at Malvern Local where she retired as the Dean of Students. She was a member of the St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Minerva, life member of Phi Delta Kappa, member of the Carroll County and State Retired Teacher's Association, American Legion Auxiliary Post #357 in Minerva, Mercy Senior Friends in Canton and Minerva AARP #1808. She was instrumental in bringing the Vietnam Wall replica to Malvern in 2000.
She is survived by sister and brother, Saundra Romano and Louis Romano, both of Minerva.
She was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles.
Following cremation, a Mass of the Christian Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church in Malvern with Fr. Victor Cinson as celebrant. Calling hours will be two hours prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barbara Romano Scholarship Fund for Teachers, c/o PNC Bank in Minerva.
