Sam Frazier, Jr. (Kookie)
Sam Frazier, Jr. (Kookie), 68, passed away March 24, 2011, in Lakeland, FL, from a long illness.
Born in Martin, KY, his family moved to Kensington, OH, when he was a young boy.
He attended East Local School and Carrollton Schools. He played football with the Carrollton Warriors for three years, before breaking an ankle during his senior year. He graduated with the class of 1961.
Kookie had a magnetic personality and a great love for playing musical instruments. There wasn't anything with a string he couldn't play, but his favorite was the banjo. He loved having jam sessions and going to local taverns where he would be pickin' the banjo and singing and before you knew it, everyone was joining in. It didn't matter whether they could pick or sing, they always were welcome to come up on stage and do their thing. He loved everyone and everyone loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Helen (Smith) Frazier; a son, Terry David and a daughter, Tina Marie.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Frazier Allen and son, Sam (Sambo) Frazier and wife, all of Lakeland, FL; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; longtime companion, Becky Fultz (originally from Carrollton) and family; brothers, Eugene (Judy) Frazier of Malvern and Earl Lee (Brenda) Frazier of Minerva and many nieces and nephews.
Upon his wishes, Kookie was cremated and burial will follow at a later date.
