Eileen McLain, 87, of Steubenville and formerly of Hammondsville, passed away March 18, 2009, in Willow Haven Care Center in Zanesville.
Born Jan. 7, 1922, in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Mildred (McAbier) McConnaughy.
She was a bookkeeper and sales consultant at James George Studios in Wintersville prior to her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Bergholz where she was active in the life of the church.
She is survived by a daughter, Marie (David) Kurtz of Dresden, a daughter-in-law, Linda McLain of Hammondsville; six grandchildren, Janet Kurtz of Nashville, TN., Julie (Mike) Wells of Zanesville, David McLain of Columbus, Sara McLain and William "Bugs" McLain, both of Hammondsville and Michael McLain of Charlotte, NC; four great grandchildren, Mia, AJ, Connor and Emma Wells and sisters-in-law, Janie McConnaughy and Anna Marie Crim.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer McLain whom died Sept. 7, 1960; two sons, infant son James Keith McLain and George McLain who died Sept. 13, 2005; brother, Don McConnaughy; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Paul Prisbylla, brothers and sisters-in-law, Myron and Janet McLain and George Crim.
Funeral services were held March 21 in Everhart-Bove Funeral Home in Bergholz with Pastor Alan Jeffries officiating. Burial was in Mooretown Cemetery in Bergholz. Condolences may be sent to www.everhart-bovefuneralhomes.com.
