William E. "Bill" Elliott

William E. "Bill" Elliott, 75, of Bergholz passed away in his home of natural causes Friday, March 13, 2009, after a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 28, 1934, in Bergholz.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes (Daughtery) Gordon and George Elliott and his stepfather, William Gordon.

He was employed at Carrollton Manufacturing Company and Nelms #2 coal mine in Cadiz.  He was a self-employed carpenter, an avid fisherman and an elder in the Bergholz Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Marie (Scopel) Elliott; six children, Colleen (Greg) Smitsky of Weirton, WV., Tallison Elliott of Bergholz, Brett (Cassandra) Elliott of Fayetteville, NC., Larry (Ronda) Mattern of Wintersville, John (Linda) Mattern of Wadsworth and Alan (Melissa) Thomas of Kalama, WA.; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 18 in Bergholz Church of Christ with Pastor Dave Miller officiating.  Burial followed in Bergholz Cemetery.  Everhart-Bove Funeral Home in Bergholz was in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent at www.everhart-bovefuneralhomes.com.
