Dorothy Fern (Warner) Ford

Dorothy Fern (Warner) Ford, 80, of East Springfield passed away March 11, 2011, after a brief illness surrounded by her family.

She was born June 15, 1930, in Onego, WVA, to the late Stephen and Bertha (Arbogast) Warner.

She was a homemaker, avid gardener and longtime member of the Family Campers and RVers, an organization in which she served as district field director for many years. She also belonged to the East Springfield Night Owls and Buckeye Rover Retirees camping chapters.

She is survived by, and will be dearly missed by, two daughters; Marilyn  (Larry) Bringer and Amy Ford, both of Columbus; a son, Mervin (Laura) Ford of Tonto, Basin, AZ; grandchildren, Amanda Brigner, Benjamin Ford, William Ford and Ashley Ford; great- granddaughter, Jayla Lewis; siblings Shirley (John) Ziklo of East Springfield, Boyd  (Mary) Warner of Cleveland, Lee (Sue) Warner of Robertsville; and Carol Peters of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Lawrence Ford, her loving husband of 48 years, whom she married Dec. 14, 1951; two brothers; Forrest Warner and  Bennie Warner, who was killed in the Korean War; a sister Leona Hood; two brothers who died in infancy; and a grandson, Andrew Ford.

Friends may visit Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home at 207 S. Main St., Amsterdam. The funeral will be held March 17 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Josh Conley officiating. Internment will be in Union Cemetery at Richmond.
