John E. Boyd

John E. Boyd age 68, of Amsterdam passed away Thursday morning Feb. 23, 2012, at Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.

Born Feb. 14, 1944, in Steubenville, OH, he was a son of the late Jim and Hilda Haught Boyd.

John was a member of Hope Church in Amsterdam.

Along with his wife, the former Sandy Hodgens, whom he married Nov. 10, 1986, he is survived by a son, Donald James Fisher; grandson, Donald James Fisher Jr.; brother, Leslie (Sue) Boyd; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Amsterdam with Pastor Tom Chain officiating. Burial will follow in Bergholz Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW, DAV, and American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
