Amelia M. Brooks
Amelia M. Brooks, age 94, of Carrollton passed Friday, Feb. 24, 2012.
Born Feb. 17, 1918, in Kilgore, she was a daughter of Charles Edward Beckley and Stella (Rank) Beckley Weaver.
She worked as a handle sticker at Scio Pottery for 46 1/2 years. She lived in Scio for 43 years before moving to Carrollton in 1990. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Amelia's greatest joy was quilting and making pies. She baked pies for Victor Chiurco's Lunch Wagon.
She is survived by her sister, Fay Harper of Carrollton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlo David Brooks, whom she married Feb. 11, 1937, and who passed away July 7, 1976; two brothers, Charles E. and Jesse R. Beckley; five sisters, Odessa Bake, Mary Erwin, Clare Randolph, Dorothy M. Renninger; and Mildred Beckley; and two special friends, Victor Chiurco and Oliver Heaston.
A Celebration of Life was held Feb. 26 at Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery in Scio. |
