Ruth McIntire, age 90, of Amsterdam died Jan. 13, 2012, in her home.
She was born March 27, 1921, in Jefferson County. She was a school bus driver for Carrollton Exempted Village School and was proud to say she was the first woman bus driver in the district. She enjoyed going to craft shows and making leather crafts. She was known for the purses, belts and other leather items she made.
On Nov. 1, 1939 she married James Paxton McIntire, who preceded her in death in 1992. A son, Duane L. McIntire, and an infant son also preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna McIntire, of Amsterdam, seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will held in Harlem Springs Cemetery Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Harold Barber officiating.
