James Griffith White

James Griffith White, 92, of Bonita Springs, FL., and Carrollton, OH. passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, in Naples, FL. after a brief illness.

Born July 31, 1916, in Cannonsburg, PA., he was the son of the late James Martin and Myrna (nee Griffith) White.  He had been a resident of Bonita Springs since 1986.

He was a proud veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was a member of the Carrollton First United Methodist Church, a life member of Carrollton VFW Post 3301, VFW Post 4254 in Bonita Springs and the Bonita Springs Moose Lodge.  He began his career with the Carroll Clay Company, which later became Drexel Company and retired in 1981.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, J. Eileen White whom he married June 10, 1948, in Germano, OH.; two sons, J. David (Beverly) White of Ft. Myers, FL. and Richard E. "Dick" (Diane) White of Carrollton; twin daughters, Jeanine A. White and Francine P. White, both of Bonita Springs, FL.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Homer White and two sisters, Hazel Porter and Margaret Culbertson.

Funeral services were held Feb. 9 in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home of Carrollton with Pastor Dan Loomis of Carrollton First United Methodist Church officiating.  Burial followed at Germano Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Carrollton VFW Post 3301, 2291 Chase Rd., SE, Carrollton, 44615 in his memory.
