Richard O. Eick
Richard O. Eick, 81, of Carrollton, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 25, 2011, at Aultman Hospital in Canton.
Born Aug. 6, 1929, in New Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Martha Lotz Eick.
He was an Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from The Timken Company in 1981 after 31 years of service. He was a member of Carrollton Baptist Temple and Carroll County Antique Tractor Club.
He is survived by his wife, the former Norma Baxter, whom he married May 9, 1953; a son, Ronald (Shelly) Eick of Malvern; two daughters, Beverly (Tom) Shafer of Carrollton, and Cheryl Shine of Magnolia; six grandchildren, Rick (Leanne Wright) Shafer, Matthew Shafer, Casey (Michael) Horsley, Jared Shine, Joshua (Jerica) Eick, and Kayla (Carl) Fry; five great grandchildren, Ashlee, Hailey, Aiden, Bryan and Morgan; and two brothers and two sisters, Howard (Ruth) Eick, James (Joy) Eick, Dorothy (Joe) Carter, and Cathy Scott, all of Carrollton.
Funeral services were held Jan. 29 in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. David Powell officiating. Burial followed in Sandy Valley Cemetery in Waynesburg with full military honors provided by VFW, DAV, and American Legion.
