Alice L. Cole

Alice L.  ColeAlice L.  Cole, age 91, a former Sherrodsville (Sunset Valley) resident, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 4, 2011, in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover following a long illness.

Born Jan. 11, 1919, in Akron, she was the daughter of the late Wayne W. and Florence Ewing Bratten. 

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church at Sherrodsville and Dorcas Sunday School class of the church.  She was a member of Conotton Valley Senior Citizens, t Sherrodsville Grange, Sherrodsville Pythian Sisters, and Conotton Valley Garden Club.  Alice enjoyed gathering with her friends to play Euchre.  She was a 1937 graduate of McKinley High School at Canton and was always very fond of her Sunset Valley neighborhood and friends.

She is survived by three grandsons, Jonathan (Tamara) Reichert of Pataskala, Jacob "Jake" Reichert of Mesa, AZ, and Joshua Reichert of Gahanna; three great-grandchildren Jordan, Alyssa and Caleb Reichert, all of Pataskala, and many close and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester B. Cole who died Feb. 10, 1981; two daughters, Barbara L. Reichert and Martha M. Cole; two sons, Dr. Donald F. Cole and Charles C. Cole; one sister and two brothers.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date with interment of her ashes to be in Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens. Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville is handling arrangements. To leave an online condolence message, visit www.baxtergardner.com.
