Marilyn J. Menlo
Marilyn J. Menlo, age 82, of Ann Arbor, MI, passed away peacefully Sept. 28, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Aug. 17, 1927, in Carrollton, she was a daughter of Allen and Wilma Johnston.
Marilyn earned her bachelor's degree from the College of Wooster, and her master's degree from the University of Michigan. Upon receiving her bachelor's degree, Marilyn returned to home in 1950 to teach English for one year at Carrollton High School. During her career, she was the Dean of Girls at Allen Park High School, Asst. Dean of Women at the University of Michigan and a Visiting Professor at Eastern Michigan University. Marilyn was an avid bridge player, who cherished life.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Allen Menlo; loving children, Beth (Dan) Salk, Michael (Etta) Menlo, Melissa (Rick) Reid, and grandchildren, Brendan, Madelynn, Maya, Maris and Noah; brothers, Joe (Janet) and Tim (Margaret) Johnston, and sister, Carolyn (Rob) Kaufman, all of whom loved her dearly. Marilyn fully embraced and cherished life, family and friends and always added a special flair to every occasion.
A private family burial has taken place for Marilyn at Arbor Crest Memorial Park in Ann Arbor. Donations may be made in Marilyn's honor to Arbor Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
