Pearl Esther Slaughter
Pearl Esther Slaughter, age 93, formerly of Carrollton, Rocky River and Northfield, passed away Oct. 1, 2009, in Sunnyslope Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 3, 1915, in Carrollton, she was a daughter of the late David E. and Ola B. (Gotschall) Smith.
She was a homemaker and worked at J.C. Penney Company for 10 years. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Carrollton and Lakewood Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid bowler.
She is survived by two sons, Malcolm E. (Lana) Slaughter of Anaheim Hills, CA, and Craig A. (Sandy) Slaughter of Fredericksburg, VA; one daughter, Marna L. (Bruce) Pellow of Mentor; one brother, Leland Smith of Carrollton; one sister, Coyla (Corky) Seck of Rancho Mirage, CA; one sister-in-law, Betty Smith of Carrollton; five grandchildren, Kerri Golla and Wendy Hernandez, both of California, Candice Slaughter of Fredericksburg, VA, Lori Pellow and Michelle (Steve) Katz, all of Cincinnati; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester A. Slaughter who she married March 11, 1933, and who passed away March 2, 1997; two brothers, Moyne and Carl Edward Smith; one sister, Marion Ross; one grandson, Todd Pellow and a great grandchild, Lane Prock.
Funeral services will be held Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial will follow in Minerva. Calling hours will be Wednesday Oct. 7 from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home and Thursday, Oct. 8 from 10-11 a.m. one hour prior to the service.
