McKayla Hoopes, age 16, of Carrollton passed away Thursday evening September 27, 2012 in Aultman Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
The daughter of Daniel Hoopes of Minerva; her biological father, Jason McCoy of Carrollton; and April Benear-Hoopes of Carrollton, she was born in Spenser, WV on June 8, 1996.
McKayla was a student at Carrollton High School where she was a cheerleader, member of student council, on the track team and prom committee, and a statistician for the wrestling team. She attended Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and was a member of the church youth group.
Along with her parents she is survived by four brothers, Joseph Kelly currently stationed in Afghanistan, Matthew Hoopes of the home, Robert Hoopes of the home, and Kaden McCoy of Charleston, WV, two sisters, Stephanie Kelly of the home and Sierra McCoy of Charleston, WV; paternal grandparents, Darrell and Kathryn Hoopes of Malvern; maternal grandparents, Timothy and Ruby Benear of Spenser, WV.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Pastor Mark Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Minerva. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-5 p.m. and with the family present from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Akron Children’s Hospital.
