Robert M. Beckley
Robert M. Beckley, 97, of Kent, formerly of Atwood Lake and Florida, died Friday morning, Sept. 24, 2010, in Robinson Memorial Hospital at Ravenna following an extended illness.
Born March 27, 1913, in Carrollton, he was a son of the late Samuel and Odessa Marshall Beckley.
He was a career Navy veteran active from 1932 until 1959, serving overseas in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Following his Naval retirement, he attended University of Miami in Florida and became a real estate appraiser and broker.
He was a member of Christ Community Church in Dellroy and Atwood Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Beckley of the home; a sister, Freda Elliott of Canton; a daughter, Linda (David) Williams of Eagle Rock, AK; two grandchildren, Elliott (Kelly) Williams and Kathryn (Paul) Mueller; and two great grandchildren, Adelynn and Margaret Williams.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Osborn; second wife, Lois Rankin Nash; daughter, Nancy; and a brother.
A memorial service was held Sept. 28 in Christ Community Church in Dellroy with Rev. Ron Silver officiating. Private burial services were held in Scott Cemetery near Carrollton. Robert's services were under the care and guidance of Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton.
