Robert E. Gantz
Robert E. Gantz, age 77, of 1309 Clay Road N.W., Dellroy, died Thursday afternoon, June 30, 2011, in Aultman Hospital at Canton.
Born Sept. 27, 1933, in Carrollton, he was the son of the late Donald and Stella Laverne Guess Gantz.
Bob was an employee of the Davy Tree Company many years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and was a former member of Freewill Baptist Church at Waynesburg. He was known as a quiet and observant man and loved to listen to country music. He was an enthusiastic fan of both NASCAR and professional wrestling.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby E. Swiney Gantz, whom he married Feb. 29, 1956, at Malvern; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Jennifer) Campbell, Sr. of Bowerston; his three grandchildren, Ashley Gantz, Richard Campbell, Jr. and Brittanie Campbell, all of Bowerston; his brother, James (Bobbi) Gantz of Canton; his sister, Norma Jean Holcomb of New Philadelphia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services were held July 5 in Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Rev. Milo Baker officiating. Interment followed in Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens, where the Carroll County combined units of V.F.W., D.A.V. and American Legion conducted military graveside services.
