Joseph Simpson

Joseph Simpson, Jr., 96, formerly of Simmons Ridge, Amsterdam, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009, in Great Trail Care Center.

Born Oct. 31, 1912, in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria Agnes (Leach) Simpson, Sr.

He married Elizabeth Kazsmer Dec. 27, 1941, and she passed away Jan. 25, 2001.  He was a farmer, a machinist, house painter and good neighbor.  He loved jig-fishing for Lake Erie perch and crappie. 

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Chuck Patterson and daughter-in-law, Cheryl (Wallace) Simpson; grandchildren, Jessica (Simpson) Shultz of Flint, MI, Patrick Patterson of Canton and Todd Patterson of Carrollton and five great grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Kazsmer) Simpson and a son, Phillip.

At the families request, cremation has taken place.  No services are planned at this time.
