Eugene D. Cope
Eugene D. Cope, 83, of Richmond formerly of Malvern and Amsterdam, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010, at Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville.
Born Dec. 24, 1926, in Cadiz, he was a son of the late John and Mamia Dawson Cope.
He was a veteran of the US Army and a former member of Amsterdam Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Minerva and Jolly Mixers of East Springfield. A lifelong Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, he was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, whose wit and wisdom will be missed and remembered.
He is survived by a daughter, Sally (Frank) Krankovich of Cadiz; two sons, Rick (Tammy) Cope of Richmond and Todd Cope of New Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Mary Cope of Malvern; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Jane Wilkin Cope, whom he married June 27, 1953, and who passed away in 2005; a son, Eugene Donald Cope; a grandson, Dana Krankovich and two brothers, William and John Cope.
