William Jordan
William Jordan, age 81, of Minerva died Sunday, March 8, 2009, in his home.
Born Sept. 17, 1927, in McGuffey, OH, he was a son of William and Ellen (Cowan) Jordan.
He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1946 and attended Mount Union College in Alliance. He retired from the Minerva and Malvern Post Office where he worked for 30 years. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War where he was a Staff Sgt. He was a member of the Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church in Homeworth and a past master of Sandy Valley Lodge #408 F&AM in Hanoverton and a former member of Pleasant Valley OES #216 in Hanoverton.
He is survived by a son, Jeffrey (Kathy) Jordan of Minerva; two sisters, Norma Moser of Louisville and Sandy (David) Sutton of Minerva; a brother, James Jordan of Hartville and two grandchildren, Barbara and William Jordan.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Scott) Jordan who died in 2003; a baby sister and a brother, Robert Jordan.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church in Homeworth with Rev. Tom Sawyer officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Grove Hill Cemetery in Hanoverton. Calling hours will be Thursday 6-8 p.m. in Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
