Herman J. Fiscus

Herman J. FiscusHerman J. Fiscus, 82, passed away from the arms of his loving youngest son William into the arms of his loving Lord and savior Jesus Christ Feb. 26, 2010.

Born July 12, 1927, he was the son of Grace M. (Nuhfer) Fiscus and Herman V. Fiscus of Weirton, WV.  He was predeceased by one sister, Marie Ann Clements and a son, Richard V. Fiscus.

"Joe" as he was known to friends and family joined the Navy in 1944 and received an honorable discharge in 1948, having served as an Aviation Electricians Mate Second Class.  His duties included teaching the electrical control of gun turrets.

Upon leaving service, he married Wanda A. Manley in 1949.  The two celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Aug. 13, 2009.

An electrician by trade, he developed skills in all areas of mechanics, engineering, masonry and farming.  His hobbies included computers, genealogy and fishing.

He is survived by three sons, Thomas J. (Carolyn) Fiscus of Portland, OR, Walter J. Fiscus (Bonnie Brady) of Mechanicstown and William M. Fiscus of Columbus.  He was blessed with six grandchildren, Jo Dean Morrow, Jessie Morrow, Lindy (Nate) Bryant, Megan Fiscus, Lauren Fiscus and Jonathan Fiscus.  He had one great granddaughter, Chloe Bryant.

According to his wishes in lieu of a funeral service, there will be a private gathering of friends and family at a date to be determined.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Carroll County are greatly appreciated.

Rest in peace in the arms of our Lord Jesus, your son Richard, and your mother who passed away when you were so very young and whom you missed your life long.  Good-bye for now our husband, father and friend until we meet again.
