Anna Kertel

Anna Kertel, 86, a resident of Carroll County for 58 years died in Fort Wayne, IN., on Jan.19, 2010.  Born July 16, 1923, in Piney Fork, OH, she was a daughter of Ignac and Maria (Novak) Jereb.

Catholic by faith, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She generously shared her talents as an accomplished seamstress.  And how she warmed hearts of family and friends time and time again with not only her wit and her wisdom, but also with fresh loaves of her homemade bread and wonderful pies.

Cherishing her memory is her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Joseph Baxter of New Haven, IN; her son, Carl A. Kertel, of New Haven, IN; and granddaughters, Lauren (Steven) Davis of Greenwood, IN, and Megan Baxter of Fort Wayne, IN.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Moose" Kertel; her brother, Ralph Jereb and a great granddaughter, Hailey Anne Davis.

Funeral services were held Jan. 21 in Allmon-Dugger-Cotton Funeral Home.  Burial was in Westview Cemetery.  Memorials in Anna's name may be made to Hospice of Carroll County, 1040 Trump Rd, NW, Carrollton, 44615.
