Magnolia man dies in ATV crash

FPS staff report

Carroll County recorded its sixth traffic fatality of 2008 last week.

Carroll County Coroner Dr. Mandal Haas said Arthur M. "Mick" Gremminger, 65, of 11170 Alliance Rd. NW, Magnolia, died of traumatic head injuries as a result of an ATV accident. The crash took place on SR 183 about three-tenths of a mile east of the Tuscarawas County line.

Troopers with the New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said Gremminger was driving a 2005 Polaris ATV eastbound on SR 183 when he lost control of the vehicle. The ATV went off the right side of the roadway  and struck a guardrail end and a mailbox. Gremminger was ejected from the ATV.

Haas, in conjunction with  Stark County Coroner Dr. T. S. Murthy, issued the ruling on the cause of death. Troopers said alcohol is suspected to be a cause in the crash. Haas said tests on the alcohol content of the body are pending.

Finefrock-Gordon Funeral Home of Magnolia was in charge of arrangements.
